TikTok is the fastest growing social media platform you NEED to be using! Hitting 1 billion users in 2021, the possibilities are endless and the platform shows no signs of slowing down.

  1. Look what’s #trending
Who doesn’t love a good trend? Tiktok is all about what is current, what is trending and related to fast paced media. Trends can vary from filters, to dances to the sounds, keep an eye out for the ones you like and know you will be able to make the most of. HOWEVER, it is important not to just jump on any trend - pick ones that directly relate to you and your account with your own spin on it. #relevanttrendsonly

  2. Keep it up!
When you create a Tiktok that does gain traction, make sure that you capitalise on all your hard work, by replying, liking and posting a follow up TikTok as soon as you can. You didn’t put all that effort in to drive people to your profile to ignore them when they finally hit your account! Engaging with the right accounts can make all the difference and help you start to build your online community.

  3. Perfectly imperfect
Do NOT worry about having the perfect video content… communities on Tiktok are more interested in fast-paced content creation, with current content. This is often the complete opposite of the super glossy, highly edited content that people would expect on Instagram. Tiktok as a rule of thumb, is more about real-time content than super stylised visuals.

  4. Short and sweet
Keep your video length short! Usually 10-15 second videos are the most popular because it is generally what most Tiktokkers are looking for. Longer videos don’t often perform well but this isn’t a one shoe fits all rule for all posts. You need to work out exactly what your audience wants to see and tailor content towards them to form your strategy.

  5. Cross promotion is key!
Share your TikTok content on your other channels but remember to create organic content on TikTok first and use their features - this platform will prioritise content made on the app as opposed to repurposed content. Another top tip would be not to download your TikTok videos once they have been posted - you’ll get a watermark on your video, causing it to underperform once shared to alternative platforms.

Why set up a TikTok for your business? TikTok’s demographics are changing and it’s audience is expanding. Whilst most users are 18-24 at 26% the social media giant is gaining traction with other age ranges 25-34 at 9.3% in 2019 as stated by statista and we will see these figures continue to grow in the coming years.
